A transfer desk is a facility for passengers on a connecting flight who may need to book, check-in, or drop luggage for a departing flight. They are often found airside. A resource allocation defines a period of time (which may be open-ended) during which a fixed resource has a defined user. In the case of a flight resource allocation this means assigning the usage of a resource to a particular flight or flights. A non-flight resource allocation may be allocated to a particular task (such as cleaning or maintenance), an airline / airline alliance, a passenger class etc. Allocations may be exclusive (e.g. to one flight, or airline) or they may not be. Management of the demand for, and the use of airspace - [EUROCONTROL Specification for A-CDM v0.8] Air Traffic Flow and Capacity Management (AFTCM). ATFM extended to the optimisation of traffic patterns and capacity management. Through managing the balance of Capacity and Demand the aim of ATFCM is to enable flight punctuality and efficiency according to the available resources with the emphasis on optimising the network capacity through collaborative decision making process. The ATC flight plan change (ACH) is that modification message type distributed by the IFPS upon receipt and successful processing of an FNM, MFS, and AFP for which a valid associated flight plan exists in the IFPS - [Other sources] DPI message sent at AOBT by the CDM AIRPORT to the CFMU (ETFMS) notifying the TTOT - [ED-145A Definition] Air Traffic Control (ATC) consists of one or more Controllers, located in the ATC Tower, who will be in charge of clearance delivery, ground movement control, and runway control. In some cases ATC also assumes responsibility for Apron Control, while in other cases, this responsibility is managed by the Airport Operator. Both ATC and the Airport Operator ensure the efficient movement of aircraft within their area of responsibility, in order to provide a continuous flow of aircraft in accordance with expected traffic demand. - [EUROCONTROL Specification for A-CDM v0.8] An Arrival Manager system is primarily designed to provide automated sequencing support for the ATCOs handling traffic arriving at an airport, continuously calculating arrival sequences and times for flights, taking into account the locally defined landing rate, the required spacing for flights arriving to the runway and other criteria. - [Other sources] A unit established to provide air traffic control service to controlled flights in control areas under its jurisdiction - [ICAO Doc 4444 ed16] An Airport CDM Partner is a stakeholder of a CDM AIRPORT, who participates in the CDM process. See also A-CDM. The Airport CDM Information Sharing Platform (ACISP) is a generic term used to describe the means at a CDM AIRPORT of providing Airport CDM Information Sharing between the Airport CDM Partners. The Airport CDM Information Sharing Element defines the sharing of accurate and timely information between the Airport CDM Partners in order to achieve common situational awareness and to improve traffic predictability. An airport status that is considered when the Airport CDM Information Sharing, Turn-round process (Milestones Approach), and Variable Taxi Time Calculation Elements are applied at the airport. - [ED-145A Definition] See A-CDM. A defined area on land or water (including any buildings, installations and equipment) intended to be used either wholly or in part for the arrival, departure and surface movement of aircraft. - [ICAO Doc 4444 ed16] The process of or time needed for loading, unloading, and servicing an aircraft, see aircraft ground handling - [Other sources] The Aircraft Operator is a representative of an airline or a consortium of airlines operating flights to and from the airport. - [EUROCONTROL Specification for A-CDM v0.8] A group of letters, figures or a combination thereof which is either identical to, or the coded equivalent of, the aircraft call sign to be used in air-ground communications, and which is used to identify the aircraft in ground-ground air traffic services communications. - [ICAO Doc 4444 ed16] Digital datalink system for transmission of short messages between aircraft and ground stations via airband radio or satellite. - [Other sources] IATA codes are abbreviations that the International Air Transport Association (IATA) publishes to facilitate air travel. They are typically 1, 2, 3, or 4 character combinations (referred to as unigrams, digrams, trigrams, or tetragrams, respectively) that uniquely identify locations, equipment, companies, and times to standardize international flight operations. All codes within each group follow a pattern (same number of characters, and using either all letters or letter/digit combinations) to reduce the potential for error. - [Other sources] A generic term meaning variously, flight information service, alerting service, air traffic advisory service, air traffic control service (area control service, approach control service or aerodrome control service). - [ICAO Doc 4444 ed16] Air Traffic Flow Management (ATFM) - A service established with the objective of contributing to a safe, orderly and expeditious flow of air traffic by ensuring that air traffic control capacity is utilised to the maximum extent possible, and that the traffic volume is compatible with the capacities declared by the appropriate air traffic services authority. An Air Navigation Service Provider (ANSP) is an organisation that provides the service of managing the aircraft in flight or on the manoeuvering area of an and which is the legitimate holder of that responsibility. - [Other sources] The Aeronautical Fixed Telecommunications Network (AFTN) is a worldwide system of aeronautical fixed circuits provided, as part of the Aeronautical Fixed Service, for the exchange of messages and/or digital data between aeronautical fixed stations having the same or compatible communications characteristics. - [Other sources] Aeronautical data means a representation of aeronautical facts, concepts or instructions in a formalised manner suitable for communication, interpretation or processing - [Other sources] Adverse Conditions Element consists of collaborative management of the ca-pacity of an airport during periods of a predicted or unpredicted reduction of capacity - [Other sources] Any event within the operational envelope of the airport, which has a significant negative impact on operational performance, unless appropriate actions are organised. - [EUROCONTROL Specification for A-CDM v0.8] System at airports having a surveillance infrastructure consisting of a Non-Cooperative Surveillance (e.g. SMR, Microwave Sensors, Optical Sensors etc) and Cooperative Surveillance (e.g. Multi-lateration systems) - [EUROCONTROL Specification for A-CDM v0.8] ADEXP provides a format for use primarily in on-line, computer to computer message exchange. ADEXP is a format, not a protocol. - [ED-145A Definition] Airport Collaborative Decision Making (CDM) is a concept which aims at improving Air Traffic Flow and Capacity Management (ATFCM) at airports by reducing delays, improving the predictability of events and optimising the utilisation of resources. Implementation of Airport CDM allows each Airport CDM Partner to optimise their decisions in collaboration with other Airport CDM Partners, knowing their preferences and constraints and the actual and predicted situation. The decision making by the Airport CDM Partners is facilitated by the sharing of accurate and timely information and by adapted procedures, mechanisms and tools. The Airport CDM concept is divided in the following Elements: Description of ..... Copy this template, give it a new name, edit and save. Aircraft Parking Position means the area on the aircraft apron adjacent to each Gate and designated by the City to serve as the position at which aircraft using each particular Gate must be parked. - [Other sources] Inbound flight - [EUROCONTROL Specification for A-CDM v0.8] An aircraft movement is a take-off or landing of an aircraft at an airport, or the movement of an aircraft on the ground between one position and another (e.g. from a stand to a parking hangar). A baggage belt is a device that delivers checked luggage to passengers at the baggage reclaim area at their final destination. A check-in desk is an area of an airport where valid departing passengers are issued their boarding pass and/or baggage tags for a flight. Facility which carries passenger hold baggage around in a loop until a baggage handler is able to pick them up and load into a suitable container. A security lane is a designated area where passengers and their carry-on baggage are screened for prohibited items before they are allowed to enter the secure area of the airport. Access is typically restricted only to passengers carrying a valid boarding pass. A variation, addition or cancellation from the basic schedule of one or more flights on single dates. [IATA,SSIM,CHPT1,RP1761b] An enterprise operating aircraft for commercial purposes. [IATA definitions] An Airport Operational Database (AODB) is a core airport IT system which acts as a repository for operational data, particularly that relating to flight and aircraft movements. The AODB is typically used as real-time data storage, and includes flights for the operational window of the previous and next few days. The airborne activity of an aircraft defined by one primary identifier and possibly one or more additional identifiers (i.e. code shares). A flight may comprise from one to many flight legs. - [IATA Definitions] Gate is the portion of an airport that connects an aircraft with its payload. - [Other sources] The scheduled time of arrival or departure available or allocated to an aircraft movement on a specific date at an airport. [IATA definitions] An aircraft stand is a designated area on the airport apron where an aircraft can be parked.Term Description Labels Transfer Desk Resource allocation EATM Airport Throughput Business Division ATM ATFCM
